The Labour Minister commenced health checks for workplace insurers in Samut Sakhon. The ministry organized a team of doctors and nurses to promote the health of employees in the workplace, providing insurers with good physical and mental health for the ability to work efficiently.

On March 14, 2019, Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo chaired the commencement of activities to promote health check-up for insurers at Kinsho Foods Co., Ltd., Ekachai Rd., Muang, Samut Sakhon. He said that the events were organized to promote health checks among insurers to jointly create a healthy society within Samut Sakhon. The workplace itself would also have healthy workers and workforce for a more efficient production line. Therefore, he said that establishments should encourage insured persons to maintain both physical and mental health, covering 5 diseases including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, chronic diseases and cancer.
Apart from workplace illnesses being caused by an environment that is not conducive to good health, another important cause of illness is behaviour both at home and at work. The Labour Minister said that if we can encourage self-control and provide an environment that promotes good health, including the workplace environment, it is hoped that outcomes will further be extended to the home, community and society sustainably, in line with the 4S policy of Samut Sakhon province as well.
Pol.Gen. Adul said that the activities organized to promote health checks for insurers in this workplace was under implementation of the health promotion policy for insurers in the workplace and a drive for annual health check-ups for insurers, which Samut Sakhon has a strategy to promote good health for people and communities. The activities were a joint operation between the public and private sectors. Health examination is a benefit that the Social Security Office has announced that insurers can utilize at hospitals according to their entitlements. However, it was found that this was not convenient for insurers because of having to leave or take time off work to go to the hospital, which was not practical for insurers.
The promotion of health checks for insurers in the workplace had the objective to drive missions according to the Labour Minister’s policy on annual health checks for insurers that has expanded at the provincial level. It is the Social Security Office’s aim to reduce public health disparities among foreign workers who are entitled to health checks equal to Thai people, and was a channel to create awareness on the policy and new image of Samut Sakhon in being a healthy and livable city, as a campaign for employers in looking after employees. A total of 1,500 participants joined the event from a target of 50,000 people in Samut Sakhon.
