Labour Minister announces Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate as White Factory, Drug-Free

          Mr. Phadermchai Sasomsub, the Minister of Labour, opened the ceremony of the operations to make Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate a drug-free workplace, white factory, in celebration of His Majesty the King’s 84th Birthday Anniversary. The ceremony was held at the conference room, Thai-German Institute, in Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate, Muang, Chonburi.

            On 18 January 2012, Mr. Phadermchai Sasomsub, the Minister of Labour, opened the ceremony of the operations to make Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate a drug-free, white industrial estate, in celebration of His Majesty the King’s 84th Birthday Anniversary. The ceremony was held at Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate, Chonburi. In the event, people took promises not to involve with drugs, the declaration to aim towards becoming a drug-free, white industrial estate was made, sports equipments were given to Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate, certificates were presented to 88 enterprises in the industrial estate who have passed the criteria of a white factory for the year 2011. The Minister of Labour stated that, according to the government announcement to solve and prevent drug problems as a national agenda, the Ministry of Labour is the main responsible agency for strengthening immunity and preventing drugs, via methods to strengthen immunity and preventing drug problems in workplaces, consisting of the White Factory Project, To Be Number One Project, and also a supporting agency to join force with all other governmental agencies to create drug-free society and community. Cooperation from every party concerned including workplaces is needed in order to achieve this national strategy.   
 
               Ms. Yingluck Shinawatra, Prime Minister, opened the national operation “Power of the Land to Conquer Drugs” on 11 September 2011, with the objective to reduce drug use and contain the severity of drug problem within 1 year. The Ministry of Labour, in response to the national agenda, has undertaken campaigns to boost awareness of drug issues among labour as well as other initiatives. In 2011, the MOL provided trainings to 4,486 persons from drug therapy programs, provided job placement service to those from drug therapy and rehabilitation programs, convened activities to boost awareness on dangers and how to prevent and solve drug problems in workplace 365 times. The operational result of the year 2011, there were 54,100 enterprises joining the program, 5,645,020 workers benefited. Currently there are 10 industrial estates that have passed the criteria of a white industrial estate.
