Ministry of Labour creates network for career counseling, labour shortage solution

Vice Minister of Labour opens a career counseling seminar, entitled “creating career counseling network”, aimed at creating a career counseling network of career counseling teachers nationwide and public and private agencies in preparation for the ASEAN Community.

Mr. Anusorn Kraiwatnussorn, Vice Minister of Labour, said during the seminar which was held at Bangkok’s Miracle Grand Convention Hotel that Ministry of Labour has inked an agreement concerning cooperation on career counseling with concerned parties and network organizations, as part of its policy to seek new allies from both private and public sectors for the career counseling development. The ministry targets to create an integrated career counseling system, that has concrete guidelines and operations, provide coverage and quality service toward targeted groups and can help Thailand prepares for the formation of the AC in 2015 in which workers will be allowed to move freely within its member countries, with concerned parties and network organizations nationwide.


Mr. Anusorn called on all concerned parties to help prepare workers to have needed ability and capacity before fully entering the AC.


Mr. Anusorn said “teachers, educational staffs, and representatives of firms, employers’ confederation of Thailand, Personnel Management Association of Thailand, concerned private and public sectors must pay attention to career counseling, which is a crucial factor to future employment.”, urging them to create a network among themselves through social network.


Department of Employment has developed and increased skills and competitiveness of Thai workers through its career counseling network, developed a career counseling strategy for 2011-2016 – aimed at propelling an integrated career counseling system --, which will help solve labour shortage problems in industrial sector and unemployment problems among new graduates and create a workforce development plan to prepare Thailand for the AC in 2015.
