Structurally and technically an employee organization whose membership is confined to the employees

of a singl plant or company as contrasted with labor unions which have a board regional, national,or international coverage. Since such employee associations, or "representation plans" as they were frequently called before the passage of the National Labor Relations Act, were usually established and largely administered by emloyers to forestall unionzation, the term "company union" is commonly regarded as being synonymous with "company-dominated union."
