76 Provinces Create 5-Year Plan on Labour Management

             Today (3 May 2017), Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti chaired the workshop on strategic planning for the Permanent Secretary’s Office in 76 provinces (2017-2021) at the Department of Skills Development’s Pakorn Angsusingh Conference Room. The workshop was organized to devise a strategic framework for the Office of the Permanent Secretary in facilitating ministerial policies. The Permanent Secretary presented directions for the 20-year human resource development plan, workforce preparation for the 21st century and National Strategy and Reconciliation, which aims at developing the workforce for higher value and better skills, promoting collaboration between the public and private sector and protection for informal workers. The plans also aim to promote employment and self-sufficiency amongst the senior workforce and drive for innovation-orientated enterprises to develop the agricultural and services industry to start with. The workshop further discussed strengthening 18 provincial groups and the establishment of a Labour Economic Office which will have authority in providing directions on human resource development and act as a policy advisor to align development with the 20-year national strategies.
