The company had contracted a large construction project with Abu Dhabi airport and as a result, demanded more labourers for the workforce. Initially, the Labour Office had met with the employer, receiving 500 vacancies for construction workers whereby the employers had asked for the Department of Employment to organize the workers. The employers would then travel for the selection process. The Labour Office visited the workers and gave certificates to express thanks for participation in the third Thai worker sport event. The Labour Office also inspected accommodation and asked about welfare benefits arranged by the employers. Upon inspection, it was found that the worker’s camp had many facilities including a small hospital, an exercise room, a canteen, shops and bank branches. The accommodation environment was clean and workers were provided safety equipment for working, also receiving compensation as stated in the contracts. The Minister Counsellor gave a talk to the workers, asking them to concentrate and to stay away from all vices. He also distributed manuals on foundation labour laws to the workers..
