On 5 May 2017 at 11.00 (local time in Israel), Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul and committee visited Thai students and agricultural trainees in Israel and observed the integration of technology in agriculture at the Arava Internation Center for Agricultural Trainimg (AICAT).
The Labour Minister spoke to the students explaining the government’s drive towards a Thailand 4.0 whereby the students would be able to contribute their experience and technological know-how to new agricultural innovations and self-development as a “young smart farmer”. He said that all of this would modernize the Thai agricultural industry in support of a Thailand 4.0. The Labour Minister urged trainees to stay diligent and maintain positive relationships with employers and colleagues.
Ms. Chonticha Tabvilai aged 23 years old from Khon Kaen University said that the new agricultural experiences taught her about marketing and responding to producer and consumer needs. She added that Israel’s advanced purchasing system was helpful and could be adapted to Thailand.
Thai trainees in Israel are arranged under an agricultural studies program which promotes learning by doing, a collaborative effort between the Thai Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) and Israeli Arava International Center for Agriculture and Technology (AICAT). OVEC assigned the Roi-et, Mahasarakram and Srisaket Colleges of Agriculture and Technology as the pre-departure preparation centers for students nationwide.
In addition to this, the Labour Minister observed agricultural demonstrations such as the farming of chili peppers, bitter gourd, tomatoes, eggplant, watermelon and cantaloupe for example. The information can also be used to add value to other affiliated units’ missions.
