Almost 300,000 Undocumented Migrants Registered On Eighth Day

              The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and spokesperson Mr. Ananchai Uthaipatanacheep spoke about the progress of reporting centers for foreign worker management. He explained that the Ministry of Labour’s reports as of 31 July 2017 at 16.30 hours, a total of seven days into operations, showed a total number of 84,972 employers and 288,954 migrant workers registered across the 100 centers nationwide. As for 31 July 2017 only, a total of 10,358 employers and 35,045 workers registered, in addition to 1,540 employers and 3,457 workers who registered online. The majority of migrant workers came from Myanmar, followed by Cambodia and Laos. In terms of industry, the highest was agriculture and livestock, followed by construction, food and beverages, services and agricultural processing industries respectively.
              Mr. Ananchai explained that the top five provinces for highest number of registrations included Bangkok, Samut Prakarn, Rayong, Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani. The Ministry of Labour has affirmed that all 100 centers nationwide will remain open from 08.30 to 16.30 from 24 July to 7 August 2017 with no holidays, regardless of the flood situation. Mr. Ananchai reminded employers that the application forms can be downloaded from https://wpfast.doe.go.th/fast11/user/ for convenience. He urged employers with undocumented migrant workers to register and process their workers quickly as the centers will only be open for another week.
