Today (21 April 2017), Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti chaired the opening ceremony of the “Anti-Corruption Labour Network Development” which took place at the Srichan Ballroom at the Charoen Thani Hotel in Khonkaen. She said, “The government has made significant effort to develop and promote anti-corruption mechanisms, however measures to inspect the use of authority remain narrow and the role of the people in anti-human trafficking measures does still not extend to all sectors. This is coupled with the drive of government policies which still lacks continuity, therefore this needs to be more effective. Thai society has become more aware of corruption and is no longer accepting of such issue. It has therefore become necessary for the government sector to develop transparent services and measures to resolve any questions raise by the people. Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul has presented policies to promote good governance and zero corruption in the government sector through legislation, core values, ethics and morals, in parallel with effective management to eliminate corruption and unfavourable behaviour. I hope that all of the Ministry of Labour’s affiliated officers work together to drive all anti-corruption measures and gain participation from the people in taking caution of anti-corruption instances, which could potentially lead to financial loss and obstacles in national development. The Ministry of Labour will improve collaboration between the government and people which is core for identification of corruption at the local level. The Ministry of Labour aims to expand its anti-corruption labour networks to cover all provinces and areas to promote national development and zero corruption.”
The project to develop labour network capabilities in anti-human trafficking measures aims to cover 21 provinces in the Northeastern region and Lopburi, totaling 800 people.
