Anti-Human Trafficking MOU Signed in Maha Sarakham

         Today (25 May 2017) Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti chaired the signing of the MOU on anti-human trafficking measures at the Maha Sarakham Labour Office. He said that the Ministry of Labour had given emphasis to resolving human trafficking issues, including those working abroad, child labour, women workers and slavery, both in the informal and formal working sectors. Coverage also extends to foreign workers ensuring legal compliance, eliminating human trafficking in Maha Sarakham province. The MOU was signed between the government and 16 private organizations with the intention to fully eliminate human trafficking and prepare for the Thailand 4.0. From the government side, the MOU was signed by the provincial labour office, the provincial employment office, provincial office for labour protection and welfare, provincial social security office, provincial office for skills development, provincial administration office, provincial police office, the provincial peace and order maintaining office, provincial office for social development and human security, provincial federation of industries and the Maha Sarakham employers association. Participating companies included the Maha Sarakham branches of Khon Kaem Fishing Net, Wangkanai and VAS Garment.

         The Permanent Secretary of Labor then visited the Smart Job Center, inviting jobseekers including handicapped and senior members to use the center’s services which facilitate access to information and speedy results, ultimately leading to employment, income and stability for households and the nation as a whole.
