Assistant to the Labour Minister Commences Workshop on “Developing Safety Officers to be Leaders in Driving Organizational Health” for the Second Batch

          On May 19, 2022, at 09.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong to preside over the workshop’s opening on “Developing Safety Officers to be Leaders in Driving Organizational Health .”The initiative aligns with the project to develop the potential and roles of safety officers in corporate health work to be a leader in driving the effectiveness of health organizations. It aims to promote the assessment of health risks arising from the behaviour of employees in the workplace and give advice on health behaviour change for employees to have correct health behaviours. The event took place at the Marina Bay Meeting Room, 2nd floor, Novotel Marina Sriracha and Koh Sichang Hotel, Chonburi Province.
          Mr. Surachai said the Ministry of Labour is responsible for supervising establishments. Safety officers are working under the law and have foreseen the opportunity to develop the role of safety officers in the workplace. Therefore, they have worked with the Office of Corporate Health Support, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, to implement the project. It aims to develop safety officers at work to have knowledge and understanding about the development of a Happy Workplace organization that can comprehensively take care of health problems in terms of health-related work such as preventing diseases and accidents at work and general health.
          Mr. Surachai added that occupational safety officers are considered an important and valuable asset. They are an important force in driving safety to work successfully and are the creators of a mechanism for transferring knowledge and understanding to operators at all levels to work with safety, no accidents, and free from occupational diseases. The Ministry of Labour has continually given importance to the safety and health of all workers. This can be observed from the Safety Thailand policy, a key policy in driving the work with strict law enforcement. It supports the creation and development of safety networks at work to be stronger and more numerous and creates awareness in all sectors. Overall, it aims to reduce the statistics of accidents from work continuously.
