New measures taking effect today will allow local employers to immediately apply to hire overseas Chinese and foreign students receiving education in Taiwan directly after their graduation at a lower minimum monthly pay of NT$37,619 The new policy takes effect June 14, the CLA said.
CLA promulgated the regulations easing qualification and screening criteria governing applications by foreigners seeking white-collar jobs in Taiwan Under the new rules, overseas Chinese students and foreign students taking courses in Taiwan will be allowed to work immediately after graduation without having to have two years of working experience as required under previous regulations. But their minimum monthly pay will be reduced to NT$37,619
The employers can file applications with the CLA for hiring overseas Chinese students and foreign students directly after their graduation in Taiwan, and those students hired can stay to work in Taiwan soon after the applications are approved by the CLA. The overseas Chinese and foreign students studying in Taiwan have already adapted to the local environment and can therefore easily get along well with local employers and adapt to the working conditions here.
There are an average of 3,500 to 4,500 foreign and overseas Chinese students coming to study in Taiwan per semester, mostly in the engineering, financial and business management departments.
