Concerned Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Phetchaburi to Care for Insured Persons with Disabilities

          On December 22, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, and the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, to visit insured persons with disabilities in Phetchaburi Province. The Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, assigned the Social Security Office’s Inspector-General, Mrs. Wantana Natthaphunwat, and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchaburi Province also participated in the event. Physical therapists from the Pathum Thani Workers’ Rehabilitation Center, Region 1, joined the visit to recommend physical therapy sessions and basic self-help for three insured persons with disabilities this time.
          Mrs. Thiwalrat revealed that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan is concerned for employees and insured persons who have experienced harm or insecurity, causing them to become a person with disabilities. They also emphasize the importance of closely taking care of insured persons in every aspect. Today, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned her and the committee to visit Phetchaburi to meet with insured persons with disabilities from workplace accidents, creating morale and encouragement, and having a positive perception of the social security system. They also acknowledged problems and provided advice on exercising the legal rights of persons with disabilities, including monitoring the symptoms of illness to promote healing and rehabilitation of the body and mind. The Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office is ready to take care of people with disabilities to receive complete and correct benefits, including quickly and promptly access to support for stability in life and a better quality of life for insured persons.
          The Social Security Office’s Inspector-General Mrs. Wantana Natthaphunwat, revealed that she was assigned by the Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, to join the team to visit the area with the Advisor to the Labour Minister, to bring consumer goods, consumables, and various appliances to insured persons with disabilities. The effort aims to build morale and encouragement for the insured persons under the supervision of the Phetchaburi Provincial Social Security Office. They visited the residences of the following three people:
          The first person was Mr. Sombat Phanket, 58 years old, a Section 33 insured person residing in Mueang District, Phetchaburi Province. His disability is from a ruptured blood vessel in the brain due to high blood pressure causing weakness in the left leg body and loss of movement. He can walk and speak slowly. He became entitled to disability compensation on August 28, 2007. Currently, he receives 2,250 Baht per month for lack of income. He will receive this payment for life. He also receives 500 Baht per month for vehicle expenses and has received an old-age pension with interest amounting to 30,714.67 Baht. To date, he has received monthly disability allowances of 387,000 Baht.
          The second person was Mr. Nophadol Nokkhunthong, 44 years old, a Section 33 insured person residing in Mueang District, Phetchaburi Province. His disability is from a ruptured blood vessel in the brain due to high blood pressure. He is bedridden, unable to speak and help himself. He became entitled to disability compensation on November 27, 2020. Currently, he receives 5,527.50 Baht per month for lack of income and 500 Baht per month for vehicle expenses. He received an old-age pension with interest amounting to 153,589.59 Baht. To date, he has received monthly disability allowances of 99,495 Baht.
          The third person was Mrs. Srisaat Thongjerm, 58 years old, a Section 33 insured person residing in Ban Lat District, Phetchaburi Province. Her disability is from brain tissue which died after a cesarean section, causing lower-body paralysis and the inability to help herself. She became entitled to disability compensation on February 1, 2002. Currently, she receives 2,100 Baht per month for lack of income and 500 Baht per month for vehicle expenses. She received an old-age pension with interest amounting to 3,879.14 Baht. To date, he has received monthly disability allowances of 499,800 Baht.
