Department of Labor Protection and Welfare releases good news to ratify ILO 98 within 2019.

          Mr. Ananchai Uthaiwattanachep, The Director General of the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare disclosed the progress of ratification of the ILO Convention 98 on collective rights and negotiation. It has been drafted by the Labor Relations Act BE …. to amend the applicable law since 1975. There may be some provisions that are inconsistent with the current situation. The draft law would promote and empower workers to consolidate and negotiate with employees, in line with the 98th Convention.
          Mr. Ananchai went on to say, currently, this draft law is being proposed by the drafting committee of the Ministry of Labor. It is expected to be presented to the National Legislative Assembly in October 2018. Ratification of the ILO Convention 98 is expected to take place by 2016, which is one more step forward in upgrading the workforce. Workers in Thailand have access to the right to collective bargaining and collective bargaining. It is a fundamental right that all workers can maintain their rights and benefits and to promote social justice and peaceful coexistence and to meet international standards.
