Deputy Labour Minister Upskills Officials to Support the Digital Era

The Deputy Labour Minister accelerates digital skills for government officials, driving digital government policies organizing four courses for 1,200 participants, starting in mid-July.

           On July 8, 2021, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat revealed that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, has guidelines for developing digital skills among civil servants and government personnel to transform into a digital government. The objective is to provide the government sector personnel with appropriate digital skills, a key in driving mechanisms in transforming into a digital government and adapting to keep up with changes in technology, ready to operate by applying digital technology for maximum benefit.

           Prof. Narumon added that in the part of the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development (DSD), the Office of Trainer Development and Training Technology had organized a digital skill development project for personnel under the Department of Skill Development for 2021 to develop trainees, including DSD officials, to have the necessary knowledge and skills to work effectively in the digital era. It aims to provide training to 1,200 people via online channels, between July and August 2021, at the DSD’s office. If the training results are highly effective, the training will be extended to the labour sector.

           There are four courses in the project, namely, enhancing online collaboration, with a training duration of 18 hours, offering three classes with 100 students each, for a total of 300 people. The course starts on July 19, 2021. The next course is online manager training, with a training duration of 18 hours, offering three classes with 100 students each, for a total of 300 people. The course starts on August 2, 2021. There is a course on applying social media for public relations and corporate communication, with a training duration of 12 hours, offering three classes with 100 students each, for a total of 300 people. The training starts on August 5, 2021. The final course is on organization website management, with a training duration of 12 hours, offering three classes with 100 students each, for a total of 300 people. The course starts on August 16, 2021.

           The Department of Skill Development’s Director-General, Mr. Tawat Benchatikul, said that the DSD is determined to develop the department’s personnel to support the government’s policy towards becoming a digital government, including the Labour Minister’s policy that emphasizes the development of digital skills. This is a skill that is essential for both current and future work.
