Deputy Permanent Secretary Joins Senior Labour Officials Meeting. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Singhadet Chu-umnart joined the 13th Senior Labour Officials Meeting (SLOM) taking place from 3-4 May 2017 at the Marina Mandarin Hotel in Singapore. On this occasion, Minister Counsellor (on labour) Mr. Samat Pattamasuk from the Singaporean Labour Office and representatives from ASEAN working groups from the Bureau of Coordination for International Cooperation also joined the meeting.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary reported progress on ASEAN CSR on Labour Guidelines which was discussed in August 2016. He also spoke about the organization of meeting to establish understanding on “green jobs” in ASEAN member countries which is expected to initiate in August-September 2017.
The SLOM is arranged annually where Permanent Secretaries, representatives from member countries and the ASEAN Secretariat join, with the objective to follow up progress from the ASEAN Ministerial Labour Plan for 2016-2020 and any items removed from the plan. The meeting also consulted with all relevant stakeholders such as the ILO and UN.
