Draft Ministerial Regulation for Old-Age Pension is Almost Ready to Support Enhanced Benefits for Beneficiaries of Deceased Pensioners

Content Description

Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the progress on amending the draft ministerial regulations on the payment of compensation in case of old age. He said that the Ministry of Labour submitted a draft ministerial regulation prescribing rules, procedures, periods, and payment rates of old-age compensation (No.…), B.E.…..to the Office of the Council of State inspecting the Cabinet resolutions on February 1, 2022. The Office of the Council of State has completed the review and approval of the draft ministerial regulation.
Mr. Suchart continued that the essence of this draft ministerial regulation is an amendment to the ministerial regulation prescribing rules, procedures, periods, and payment rates of old-age compensation, B.E. 2550. It amends the payment of compensation in the event of the death of an old pensioner within 60 months from the month of eligibility to receive an increased payment of old-age pension. The compensation will be a guarantee to assist the beneficiaries of the old-age pensioners, including children, spouses, parents, or any person specified by the insured person, to receive an increase in old-age pension. The increase is from the original, where the beneficiaries receive only ten times. This is to help the beneficiaries of insured persons earn more money. In the past, the Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office adjusted the benefits to care for the quality of life of insured persons thoroughly.
For the next steps of the draft ministerial regulation, the Labour Minister will sign the draft ministerial regulation and submit it to the Cabinet’s Secretariat. It will then be published in the Government Gazette to become effective.
