The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and spokesperson Mr. Ananchai Uthaipatanacheep explained that on 21 April 2017, Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul and committee would visit Mae Sot district in Tak province to follow up workforce preparations in support of government policy on the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC),
During the visit, the Labour Minister will acknowledge obstacles, issues and comments from the private sector and relevant units, which will take place at the EWEC District Office in Mae Sot. The Labour Minister will then present working guidelines to affiliated units in the region comprising Tak, Pitsanulok, Phetchabun, Sukhothai and Uttaradit. In the afternoon, the Labour Minister and committee will visit local businesses, the Tak Employment Coordination Center and the One Stop Service Center in Mae Sot to check services and coordination provided to incoming and outgoing foreign workers, as well as the e-work permit system, as Tak will be the first piloted province.
“The Labour Minister has consistently given priority to aligning the workforce with local labour needs, as Tak is on the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) and holds great potential in the logistics and tourism industry with its geographical proximity to the border,” said Mr. Ananchai.
