Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti spoke after visiting the reporting centers for foreign worker management and the Bangkok Department of Employment Area 9 at IT Square, Laksi Plaza today (26 July 2017). She said, “Employers with undocumented workers are invited to register at the centers. This is a time to help each other manage migrant workers across the nation. Employers can submit their applications at 100 centers across the kingdom from today until 7 August 2017 and receive their cue cards, then from 8 August to 6 September, employers and workers will go through the verification process to prove employment. From there, workers will then complete the citizenship verification process, visa applications, medical examination and then collect their work permit. I urge employers to register their workers so that they can obtain the legal status. To change employers, apply for additional quotas for migrant workers through MOU channels, employers/workers can contact the Bangkok Employment Offices Area 1-10 at all times, not just during this period.”
“The center at IT Square reported smooth and problem-free operations. Officers were prepared and equipped to facilitate convenient services, able to accommodate 2,000 visitors/day. Statistics from all 100 centers from 24 July 2017 to today at 14.00, showed over 30,000 employers and 100,000 workers. Bangkok had the highest number of service users, followed by Chiang Mai,” concluded the Permanent Secretary.
