Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti welcomed participants who joined the seminar on “Foreign Worker Management Royal Decree B.E. 2560 – the benefits to Thais”, organized by the Department of Employment at the Jompol P. Pibulsongkram today (5 July 2017). The seminar was organized to explain the essence of the Foreign Worker Management Royal Decree B.E. 2560, whereby participants including members of the foreign worker management and anti-human trafficking committee, the public and private sector, NGOs, employer representatives, labour network representatives, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Thai Federation of Industries, the Thai Bankers Association, the Home Builder Association, the Thai Rice Mill Association, small businesses, the Foreign Worker Employer Association, independent academics and the media. Seminar topics included reasons behind the enactment, penalties and effects, and measures to alleviate the impact. Participants included the Department of Employment’s Director-General Mr. Woranont Pitiwan, Director of the Labour Rights Promotion Network Mr. Sompong Sakaew, Director of the Thai Frozen Food Association Dr. Poj Aramwattananont and Advisor to Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Economics, Associate Professor Lae Dilokvidhyarat. The seminar was led by Inspector-General and ministry’s spokesperson Mr. Ananchai Uthaipatanacheep, with an approximate 500 people in the audience.
