Labour Advisor Visits Ko Samui to Drive “One Tambon, One Village, Universal Social Security” Policy

            The Labour Ministers advisor, Ms. Anusaree Tubsuwan, visited Ko Samui to meet Section 40 insurers and insured persons with disabilities to drive the “One Tambon, One Village, Universal Social Security” policy to cover freelance workers for equality in society and improve the quality of life. 

            On November 23, 2018, Prime Minister’s Secretariat to the Ministry of Labour Ms. Anusee Tubsuwan (advisor to the Labour Minister) together with Assistant Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs.Theanrat Nawamawatvisited Surat Thani to present policies to the heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Surat Thani and met with Section 40 insurers to drive the “One Tambon, One Village, Universal Social Security” policy at Sala Aow Hua Road, Maret, Ko Samui. Ko Samui Governor Acting Sub Lt. Kittiphob Roddon along with heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour welcomed the visiting party.

            Ms. Anusaree said that Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo formed the “One Tambon, One Village, Universal Social Security” policy which is an important project to drive the 13 Agenda Based policies of the Ministry of Labour and government, hosted by the Social Security Office. The purpose is to provide public access to universal state to improve the quality of life, with a regional social security network as an important mechanism to drive policy, especially local leaders who are well-placed to reach out to the people, campaign for and encourage informal workers aged 15 to 60 to apply for insurance under Section 40, as security for the future.

 

           From there Ms. Anusaree visited 2 insured persons with disability, Mr. Suttipong Jaikla at 18/6 Moo 4, Lipa Noi, Ko Samui, Surat Thani and Mr. Chamneer Sukphung at 52 Moo 5, Angthong, Ko Samui, Surat Thani to boost morale and bring the social security officers to explain the benefits and welfare.

           Ko Samui is the third largest island in Thailand and consists of 7 subdistricts and 39 villages. From the Surat Thani Social Security Offices’ statistics, it cares for 6,745 organizations and 187,027 insurers consisting of 129,085 under Section 33, 15,184 under Section 39 and 42,758 under Section 40. The implementation of the “One Tambon, One Village, Universal Social Security” policy, was supported by the Ministry of Labour’s local agencies in Surat Thani, networks, volunteers, local leaders and various government agencies, working together with the goal that Moo 1, Maret, Ko Samui will be the pilot village of the “One Tambon, One Village, Universal Social Security” policy towards stability, prosperity and sustainability, in line with government policy.
