The Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on Politics), Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, the Social Security Office’s Inspector-General, Ms. Wantana Natthapulawat, and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour from Ratchaburi Province, to visit the area to deliver compensation to the family of an insured person who died from an electric cabinet explosion in Ratchaburi, at Wat Phra Sri Ar, Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province.
Mr. Suchart said that the explosion of an electric cabinet at GS Energy Co., Ltd., Ratchaburi Province, on the evening of July 16, resulted in the deaths of four employees, leaving three seriously injured. The injured employees are currently recuperating at Photharam Hospital. For the deceased employees, the Ratchaburi Provincial Social Security Office has examined the rights under the Social Security Fund and the Compensation Fund. It was confirmed that the four deceased employees were insured under Section 33 of the social security system. Yesterday, he assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-Generals to lead the task force and departments under the Ministry of Labour to inspect the scene of the accident and to pay a visit to the injured employees, who are entitled to medical treatment and compensation from the Social Security Office. Today, he assigned the Ministry of Labour’s advisor, along with the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on Politics), to visit the area with the Social Security Office staff, to deliver the compensation to the family of Mr. Santad Huangthong, an insured employee who died. The compensation included 50,000 Baht for funeral expenses, 1,470,000 Baht for compensation in the case of death, and an old age pension (excluding gains) of 158,786.95 Baht, totaling 1,678,786.95 Baht. The Ratchaburi Provincial Social Security Office is coordinating with the family to deliver the compensation to the legal beneficiaries.
“The Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, are concerned about this incident. He instructed the Ministry of Labour to take care of the employees to build morale for the injured and the deceased’s families to receive legal benefits urgently,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
