On July 21, 2022, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, the Social Security Office’s Inspector-General Ms. Pannika Luangsuri, and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Samut Prakan Province to visit the area to give compensation to the family of insured persons who died while checking the electrical system in the sewage manhole at a condominium in the Bangna area. The occasion took place at the Dan Samrong Temple, Mueang Samut Prakan District, Samut Prakan Province.
Mr. Suchart said that the employees in the incident were building technicians of Bangkok Management Realty Co., Ltd., who lost consciousness while checking the electrical system in the sewage manhole under the condominium. The incident on July 19 caused the death of three people and injured one person. Yesterday, he assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General to lead the task force and departments under the Ministry of Labour to inspect the accident scene and support the injured employee. The employee injured in the incident will receive medical treatment and compensation from the Social Security Office. Today, he assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor and the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on Politics) to visit the area with the Social Security Office’s staff to give compensation to the family of Mr. Tosapol Faksawat, a building technician who died in the incident. The family will receive funeral expenses of 50,000 Baht, compensation in the event of death of 1,176,000 Baht, and accumulated old age allowances of 19,331.98 Baht, totaling 1,245,331.98 Baht. The remaining two employees are Mr. Derek Intaraksi, the chief building engineer whose family will receive funeral expenses of 50,000 Baht, compensation in the event of death of 1,428,000 Baht, and accumulated old age allowances of 135,026.38 Baht, totaling 1,613,026.38 Baht, and Mr. Warawut U-Nath, a building technician who will receive funeral expenses of 50,000 Baht, compensation in the event of death of 1,058,400 Baht and accumulated old age allowances of 13,222.14 Baht, totaling 1,121,622.14 Baht. The three cases combined total 3,979,980.5 Baht. The Social Security Office will provide compensation benefits to the remaining two families of the deceased.
“Prime Minister and Minister of Defence General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, are concerned about the incident and have instructed the Ministry of Labour to take care of employees to build morale for the injured and the deceased’s families to receive legal benefits urgently,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
