Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Chiang Rai to Give Compensation to the Family of an Employee Who Died from an Oil Tanker Explosion

          On April 1, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, and the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat. On this occasion, the Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, assigned the Social Security Office’s Inspector-General, Mrs. Benchawan Saengphaew, to join the visit to Tha Ko Subdistrict, Mae Suai District, Chiang Rai Province. The visit provided compensation and benefits in the event of an employee’s death to the family of Mr. Prasit Suphatwan, an employee who died in the fire of an oil tanker explosion in the middle of the Chao Phraya River at the pier near Phra Chulalongkorn Fortress Bridge 2 on March 27, 2022.
          The Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, said the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha expressed his concern and condolences for this event and urged the Ministry of Labour to urgently help the relatives of the deceased employee. Today, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned her to provide the compensation and benefits in the case of an employee’s death from work to the family of Mr. Prasit Suphatwan. The visit took place at the family’s house in Tha Ko Subdistrict, Mae Suai District, Chiang Rai Province. The family will receive funeral expenses of 50,000 Baht, compensation in case of death of 1,680,000 Baht, and an old-age pension of 219,064.60 Baht, totaling 1,949,064.60 Baht. She said that on behalf of the Ministry of Labour and the Social Security Office, they are prepared to take care of employees, insured persons, and the families of the deceased who suffered accidents, to receive full benefits and ensure access to those who have suffered, leaving no one behind.
