Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Deliver Consumer Goods to Thai Contractors Association to Support Workers in Construction Camps

          On July 6, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkina, visited the area to donate consumables to the Thai Contractors Association Under H.M. The King’s Patronage, to help workers in construction camps. Mr. Prasarn Rungrueng, Village Headman of Moo. 7, Bang Luang Subdistrict, was the recipient. In this regard, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, and the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, also joined the occasion. Mrs. Thiwalrat said the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha expressed his concern to all the workers in the construction camp. The Ministry of Labour has remedial measures to help employees in worker camps, following the CCSA’s resolution to close the construction worker’s camps to restrict traveling and movement of workers in the six dark red provinces, namely Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, Nakhon Pathom, for one month. The measure aims to control the spread of Covid-19 in worker camp clusters. The Ministry of Labour compensates affected workers with 50 percent of wages for a month. It has asked for cooperation from employers to provide three meals of food for all workers. The Ministry of Labour will support consumer goods such as rice, drinking water, chicken eggs, and canned fish, donated by the private sector and brought to the Thai Contractors Association Under H.M. The King’s Patronage to be delivered to workers in various camps. The Ministry of Labour also carries our proactive Covid-19 screening. If an infection is found, the worker will be sent for treatment. Furthermore, Covid-19 vaccinations have been provided. The situation will be assessed every 15 days.

          Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkina said that today, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomlin assigned her to visit the Thai Contractors Association Under H.M. The King’s Patronage, to give 250 sets of dried foods and essential items for workers. This is an additional measure that the Ministry of Labour has asked employers for cooperation in providing food for workers for all three meals, whereby the Ministry of Labour will support consumer goods to alleviate the suffering and food expenses for workers.
