The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, and Deputy Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, Mr. Wannarat Srisuksai, also joined the occasion. Mrs. Thiwalrat spoke about the media which presented the news on “Urgent!! 136 people are begging for their lives following measures to worker camps after six days.” The news shared photos of living conditions inside a camp in the Rama 3 area, Bangkok, and asked for help claiming that there was no agency to caring for the employees. The measure aims to control the spread of COVID-19 in worker camp clusters by paying compensation of 50 percent of wages for a month. The Ministry of Labour has asked for cooperation from employers to provide three food meals for all workers. The Ministry of Labour will support consumer goods such as rice, drinking water, chicken eggs, and canned fish, donated by the private sector and delivered to the Thai Contractors Association Under H.M. The King’s Patronage, to be delivered to workers in various camps. The Ministry of Labour has also launched proactive Covid-19 screening for workers, where if the infection is found, the employee will be sent to treatment. Furthermore, COVID-19 vaccinations have been provided. The situation will be assessed every 15 days.
