On October 5, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, and the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Navamawat, to visit the area to support and give relief bags to workers and villagers who suffered from the flooding in Lop Buri, totaling 400 sets and 12,000 bottles of drinking water. The first point was at the Ban Kluay Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Ban Mi District, Lopburi Province. The second point was at Wat Sa Ta Waew, Phu Kha Sub-district, Ban Mi District, Lopburi Province. The heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Lopburi Province also joined the occasion.
From there, Mrs. Thiwalrat and the committee traveled to the area to visit, support, and donate 230 relief bags to flood victims of Ang Thong Province, along with 6,000 bottles of drinking water at the Pa Mok District Office in Ang Thong Province. Deputy Governor of Ang Thong Province, Mr. Sakda Bandasak, received the donations. The committee got onto a barge to visit, give encouragement and items to Ang Thong Province’s flood victims, ten workers from affected workplaces, informal workers under Section 40, 13 labour volunteers, and ten community leaders representing the victims. The heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Ang Thong Province also joined the occasion.
Mrs. Thiwalrat said that the “Dian Mu” tropical storm caused flash floods, widely affecting workers, businesses, and people in the area. The Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, is concerned about the people who the situation has impacted. Therefore, today, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned her to visit the area to give encouragement and provide survival bags and drinking water to alleviate the people’s suffering. After the water recedes, the Provincial Employment Office will provide employment and occupational promotion services. The Provincial Labour Office will organize an urgent employment and skill development project, support compensation, and provide professional training materials for continuous income. The Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office will provide advice on rights under the labour protection laws, including social security rights. Additionally, the Provincial Social Security Office will take care of benefits for the victims according to their social security rights. It will organize a team of doctors and nurses from hospitals in the network to provide initial care services in the affected areas.
“Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin is concerned and gives his encouragement to the workers and people affected by the flood. He has instructed agencies under the Ministry of Labour in the area to work with relevant agencies, mobilize all forces to help the people be safe to the fullest extent, and accelerate recovery after the water recedes according to the mission of each unit. Today, he assigned my team and me to visit the area to support and give relief bags to employees and people who have suffered from the flooding, to relieve their suffering and bring the situation back to normal as soon as possible,” concluded Mrs. Thiwalrat.
The flood situation in Lop Buri impacted 11 districts, 91 sub-districts, 676 villages, 15 communities, and 56,138 households. A total of 7 people died from drowning, and many roads were highly flooded, and small cars could not travel around.
The flood situation in Ang Thong impacted four districts, 28 sub-districts, 114 villages, and 3,101 households. Currently, the water level is still rising.
