The Ministry of Labour assigned its Advisor to visit Khon Kaen to drive the visit and follow up on the policy of one province, one project, with pilot training in 6 provinces, upgrading informal workers towards smart farmers.
On January 24, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, to visit Khon Kaen to observe training courses for entrepreneurs in smart agriculture to drive the policy to raise the income level and community economy. The visit focused on one province, one project (curriculum) for informal worker groups, including developing additional vocational training courses focusing on innovation and suitable technology by the community for sustainable communities. The visiting committee also met, talked, and asked about issues with trainees and operators during the training. The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, the Department of Skills Development’s Director-General, Mr. Prateep Songlamyong, and officers from agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Khon Kaen Province also participated in the occasion at the Nam & Lan Farm Community Enterprise, Khok Si Subdistrict and Nam & Lan Farm Community Enterprise (Branch 1), Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Khon Kaen District, Khon Kaen Province. Mrs. Thiwalrat said that the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha has the policy to develop and upgrade the skills of informal workers to be smart farmers. The policy aims to provide guidelines for creating courses to develop technical skills for modern technology to reduce production costs, increase productivity and connect to the market, extend workers’ careers, raise their income and the community economy.
Mrs. Thiwalrat continued that the Ministry of Labour, under the leadership of Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, has assigned the Department of Skill Development to develop and upgrade skills for informal workers, repatriated workers, and workers affected by COVID-19 in the ‘one province, one project, one course’ project. The initiative is in collaboration with network partners including Rajamangala University of Technology, Isan Khon Kaen Campus, National Telecommunications PCL, the Sri Muang Thong Fruit, and Vegetable Market, operators of the Nah & Lhan Farm, and the Smart Farm Network in Khon Kaen Province to focus on knowledge and skills in using high technology for agriculture. It is an integration and extension of knowledge and skills in electronics and computers, design, equipment installation, data collection for analysis to draw conclusions, and design instructions and uses for decision making, following agricultural principles and theories. It aims to optimize the production process, reduce costs, increase productivity, and sustainable development. Today, she observed training in two areas, including the training course for smart agriculture entrepreneurs, theory and practical training, seedling cultivation, planting, and the automatic watering system, at the Nam & Larn Community Enterprise, Khok Si Subdistrict. She also visited the practical training in harvesting, washing, trimming, vegetable product processing, and cooking the products at Nam & Larn Farm (Branch 1), Nai Mueang Subdistrict, where the training was provided the Khon Kaen Institute of Skill Development 6.
The project is piloting training by the Department of Skill Development in 6 provinces, namely Khon Kaen, Phitsanulok, Satun Sisaket, Kalasin, and Buriram. It will continue to expand the training results to workers across the country.
