Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Lead Five Labour Leaders in Phetchaburi Province to Promote Employment to Enhance the Elderly’s Quality of Life

          On June 27, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, to preside over the opening ceremony of the project to support the aging society at the local level (60 Yung Jaew). President of Ban Mo Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Mr. Soi Pankaew, and a network of elderly worker groups welcome them at the Ban Mo Subdistrict Administrative Organization Office, Mueang Phetchaburi District, Phetchaburi Province.
          Mrs. Thiwalrat said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, and the Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gives importance to the workforce and taking care of people of all ages, especially the elderly, who are considered a vulnerable group. The Ministry of Labour aims to promote employment and improve the quality of life of the elderly, aged between 60 to 69 years, to have work and income suitable for living.
          Mrs. Thiwalrat said that today, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned her to lead a team of heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchaburi Province to provide consultation and advice where each unit has an important part in taking care of the elderly in Phetchaburi province. For example, the Provincial Labour Office has an urgent employment and skill development project to alleviate occupational troubles. The Provincial Employment Office promotes employment for the elderly in occupations suitable for their age and experience, promoting self-employment, working from home, and being a service center for the elderly. The Skill Development Office has a project to promote and develop labour skills for the elderly to increase their potential to have appropriate skills following labour market needs. The Labour Protection and Welfare Office have projects to promote knowledge about welfare to prepare for retirement and enhance overall knowledge for elderly workers. The Social Security Office has adjusted the social security system to align with the employment of the elderly. It has also issued mobile health care units. Worker networks interested in the Ministry of Labour’s various activities can group together to receive various services from government agencies under the Ministry of Labour or coordinate with local government organizations in the area so that the ministry can continue to organize activities to meet the needs of the groups.
