On November 17, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, to visit the insured persons with disabilities under the “SSO Sharing Happiness” project in Krabi Province. Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Suthep Chitayawong, Assistant Minister from the Prime Minister’s Office performing duties for the Ministry of Labour Police Major General Nantachat Supamongkol, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, the Social Security Office’s Secretary-General Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, along with physiotherapists from the Songkhla Provincial Worker Competency Center Region 5, joined the team to encourage and recommend physical therapy and basic self-help to two insured persons with disabilities.
Mrs. Thiwalrat said that Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned her and her team to visit Krabi Province to meet insured persons with disabilities in the “SSO Sharing Happiness” project, which aims to take care of insured persons who have suffered from accidents that caused them to become disabled. The visit aimed to build morale and encouragement for the insured persons to positively view the social security system. The visit also acknowledged issues, provided advice on the exercise of legal rights of persons with disabilities, and monitored the symptoms of illness for treatment and rehabilitation of both the body and mind. The Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office brought consumer goods and consumables and various equipment to be given to insured persons with disabilities to build morale for insured persons under the care of the Krabi Social Security Office. They visited two insured persons with disabilities. The first person was Mr. Wichian Duangnoi, 67, an insured person under Section 39, residing at No. 239 Moo 1, Khao Kram Subdistrict, Mueang District, Krabi Province. He became a person with disabilities from a motorcycle accident that caused deformation in the lower part of his body. He received the right to be a person with disabilities on March 1, 1997. Currently, he receives compensation for a lack of income of 2,400 Baht per month for life. The second person was Mrs. Wannee Hemkaew, 55, an insured person under Section 33, residing at No. 22 Moo 7, Nong Thale Subdistrict, Mueang District, Krabi Province. He became a person with disabilities from a car accident which caused him to be paraplegic and unable to walk. He was granted the right to be a person with disabilities on August 28, 2014. Currently, he receives 2,749.50 Baht per month as compensation for his lack of income for his lifetime.
“The government and Ministry of Labour by the Social Security Office is ready to take care of you to receive complete and accurate benefits and access to support quickly and promptly while ensuring stability for a better quality of life for insured persons,” concluded Mrs. Thiwalrat.
The Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, said that Krabi province has 78,993 insured people in the social security system, comprising 32,477 under Section 33, 9,131 under Section 39, and 37,385 under Section 40. During the COVID-19 situation, the Social Security Office has provided compensation in the event of force majeure from work to alleviate the suffering of insured persons and extended the coverage for the insured to receive rights in the event of unemployment due to force majeure caused by the outbreak of dangerous communicable diseases. It issued ministerial regulations twice. The first was to see 38,226 insured persons requesting compensation amounting to 305,367,863.50 Baht. The second saw 973 insured persons requesting compensation amounting to 3,233,960.20 Baht.
