Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Visit Chachoengsao to Give Compensation to the Family of a Deceased Employee From Tanker Explosion

         On March 17, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, and the Social Security Office’s Inspector-General Mr. Sakdinat Sonthisakyothin, to visit Bang Khla District in Chachoengsao Province. The objective of the visit was to provide compensation benefits to the relatives of Mr. Sankiyapong Sanguanphan, an employee who died in an explosion of a tanker in the port area of IRPC Public Company Limited, Phra Pradaeng Branch in Samut Prakan Province, on March 9, 2022.
         The Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, shared condolences to the deceased employee’s family on behalf of the Ministry of Labour. For those injured, the Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office will pay for medical treatment as of actual expenses, but not exceeding the rate prescribed in the Ministerial Regulation. Employees who must take a break from work for treatment following doctor’s orders will receive compensation of 70 percent of wages from the first day of absence from work, but not more than one year. In the case of dismemberment, compensation will be given for up to ten years. Employees will be assessed at the end of treatment. For the employee who died due to working in the tanker, Mr. Sakdinat Sonthisakyothin, the Social Security Office has clarified the compensation and benefits in case of an employee’s death from work to the family already.
         “Today, the Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned me to visit the deceased’s family at their home in Bang Khla District, Chachoengsao Province. This visit is to provide compensation benefits in the case of Mr. Sakdinat Sonthisakyothin, an employee who died from an accident at work. The family is entitled to receive compensation under the Compensation Act B.E. 2537 and old age gratuity from the Social Security Fund. This includes funeral expenses of 50,000 Baht, compensation in the event of death for 989,443 Baht, and an old-age pension for 21,742.02 Baht, totaling 1,0611,85.02 Baht. Please be sure that we will take care of employees, insured persons, and the families of the deceased to receive full benefits,” concluded Mrs. Thiwalrat.
