On March 21, 2022, at 09.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong chaired the opening of the Eastern Region Safety Network Leaders Meeting No. 1/2022. The meeting presented the results of past operations of each club and association and jointly set goals for the Safety Officer Club’s operations in the eastern region comprising provinces, namely Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Prachinburi, and Sa Kaeo. They prepared to organize a forum to exchange knowledge and information on safety in each club’s work. The occasion took place at the meeting room of the Novotel Hotel, Sriracha District, Chonburi Province.
Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong said that today’s meeting is an opportunity for participants to exchange information and experiences in working on safety and create new bodies of knowledge for use in the development of occupational safety, health, and environment in the workplace. It promotes organizations to work responsibly, to be effective in the context of the area and industry of the Eastern region. They will also disseminate the information to other regions to create wider awareness so that everyone is involved in driving the Safety Thailand policy together with the Ministry of Labour, following the civil state guidelines. The initiative aims to provide safety at work and develop a culture of safety at work in Thai society for the workforce, to be truly stable and safe.
“I would like to commend the Eastern Region Safety Network Leaders Association that has gathered into a network of strong working safety partners, creating opportunities to exchange working experiences and participation between the government, work safety networks, and business establishments. It demonstrates an emphasis on occupational safety, health, and work environment. Safety officers at work are considered very important and valuable people. They are an important force in driving work safety to be successful and are the creator of the mechanism for transferring knowledge and understanding to operators at all levels. This promotes work with safety, no accidents, and is free from occupational diseases. The Ministry of Labour has continuously given importance to the safety and health of all workers. Their efforts can be seen in the Safety Thailand policy, an important policy to drive work with strict law enforcement. It encourages the creation and development of work safety networks to be stronger and more visible and create awareness in all sectors. We hope that the statistics of accidents from work will continue to decrease,” Mr. Surachai concluded.
