Labour Minister Assigns Assistant to Conclude Robotics Skills Competition Supporting the EEC

          Assistant to the Labour Minister chaired the closing ceremony for the competition for skills in robotics and machines to increase the competitiveness of the country and the EEC.

          On December 24, 2021, at 10.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong presided over the closing ceremony speech for the second skill competition in automation and robotics, the “MARA Skill Competition 2021”, during December 23 to 24, 2021. The competition had six competing branches, including three branches competing in teams of 2 each, namely Mechatronics, PLC, and the maintenance of robots. There are three individual branches, including robotics, Computer Mechanical Drawing (CAD), and Artificial Intelligence (CiRA CORE). The contestants are students in vocational colleges in the EEC area, such as the Eastern Technological College, E. Tech, the Chonburi Technical College, the Rayong Technical College, the Chachoengsao Technical College, and the IRPC College of Technology, for example. The occasion occurred at the Manufacturing Automation and Robotics Academy, Mueang District, Chonburi Province.

          Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong congratulated all contestants and asked that they use their experiences gained from this competition to build on and develop their skills to benefit themselves and others, progress in their careers, and extend their careers the results to the public in the future.

          For the MARA Skill Competition 2021 in Mechatronics PLC, the winner was Pattaya Technical College, in second place was Phanom Sarakham Technical College and third place was Eastern Technological College (E.Tech). In the Dubot Robotics branch, the winner was Prachinburi Technical College, second place was Rayong Technical College, and third place was Science-Based Vocational College (Chonburi). In the Industrial Robot Maintenance branch, the winner was Eastern Technological College (E. Tech), second place was Rayong Technical College, and third place was Taksin Rayong Technological and Vocational College. In the Computer Mechanical Drawing branch, the winner was Rayong Technical College, second place was Eastern Technological College (E.Tech), and third place was Phanom Sarakham Technical College. In the Artificial Intelligence (CiRA CORE) branch, the winner was Rayong Technical College, second place was Chonburi Technical College, and third place was Eastern Technological College (E.Tech). The first-place winner will receive prize money of 5,000 Baht with an honour plaque from the Minister of Labour. The second-place winner will receive a prize of 3,000 Baht, and the third-place winner will receive 2,000 Baht.

          In 2021, the Department of Skill Development by the MARA Institute, a training unit established according to a special mission, developed the workforce in automated manufacturing technology and robotics in the EEC area. They have conducted Up-Skill and Re-Skill training using a participatory training model from the private sector called “EEC Model Type B” with training according to MARA’s regular labour capacity development programs and special government projects, including the from the basic economic program and the central government budget. The training has developed over 2,000 people. By 2022, more than 30 new courses will be prepared in automation technology, robotics, production programs for manufacturing machinery and measuring equipment, and logistics systems, which are expected to develop at least 2,000 people.
