The visit took place at two construction worker accommodation sites under Sarathat Engineering Company Limited. The first was the SVRC117 project construction worker’s accommodation on Petchkasem Road Soi 3, Wat Tha Phra Subdistrict, Bangkok, with 134 migrant workers. The second site was the LTP construction worker accommodation at Soi Phanuwong 2, Samrong Nuea Subdistrict, Mueang Samut Prakan, Samut Prakan, with 234 migrant workers. The effort aims to help workers have a good quality of life and help relieve the burden on workers throughout cooperation in compliance with government measures.

The donation of food and necessary items from the private sector and network of safety officers at work to give to the employees in the worker camps are supplementary measures. The Ministry of Labour has asked for cooperation from employers to provide three meals of food for workers. At the same time, the Ministry of Labour will support consumer goods for camp workers affected by CCSA’s measures to close the construction worker’s camp. The measures aim to restrict the traveling and movement of workers in the six dark red provinces, namely Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, and Nakhon Pathom for one month to control the spread of COVID-19 in worker camp clusters. In addition, the Ministry of Labour provides compensation for unemployment benefits at 50 percent of wages.

Mr. Wannarat said that today, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, sent his concern to the workers in the two construction worker camps. Therefore, he was assigned to bring food and necessities, together with the security network partners, to donate to the workforce affected by the measures to close worker camps and alleviate the suffering and food expenses for workers.
