On November 10, 2022, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on Politics), Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, to visit and support the Baisi occupation group at Khwan Chai Naka Port, Bueng Kan Province. The Department of Employment’s Inspector-General, Mr. Sibmuenchai Phothisin, the Bueng Kan Provincial Labour Officer, and chairperson of the group gave a welcome at the Baisi occupation group, Kwan Chai Naka Pier, Bueng Khong Long District Bueng Kan Province.
Mrs. Thienrat said that as the COVID-19 situation has eased, the tourism sector has begun to recover. Therefore, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, has a policy for the Ministry of Labour to accelerate the promotion of occupations in various areas within the tourism sector, to encourage employment, equip people with skills, jobs, a stable careers, and income, following the government’s policy. Today, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned her and her team to visit and encourage the Baisi occupation group at Khwan Chai Naka Port, Bueng Kan Province. From speaking with the group members, the homeworker group currently has 13 members. The members earn an additional income apart from rubber tapping, averaging 10,000 – 15,000 Baht monthly per person. Bueng Kan Province has many attractions related to beliefs, superstitions, talismans, and legends. Therefore, many tourists come to pay worship following their faith. Baisi making is another occupation that can generate additional income for the community members. For this Baisi group, the Bueng Kan Provincial Employment Office has promoted the group to join to get work at home. In addition, the Provincial Labour Office has brought the village’s labour volunteers to publicize and coordinate the Ministry of Labour’s missions for the group members.
