Labour Minister Attends CLMVT Ministerial Meeting to Approve Joint Declaration

          The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and spokesperson revealed that Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul, Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti and the executive committee is scheduled to participate in the second CLMVT ministerial meeting from 1-3 August 2017 in Da Nang, Vietnam. The parties will attend upon formal invitation from Vietnam, whereby the Labour Minister is scheduled to sign commitment to the CLMVT Joint Declaration on 2 August 2017. 
          Mr. Ananchai explained the essence of the CLMVT Joint Declaration on Safe Migration, which aims to show all member countries’ commitment on promoting legal employment through bilateral agreements, creating awareness among job seekers, workers, employers, private recruitment agents and authorized units on safe migration. The declaration also targets promotion of safe migration throughout the journey from the origin to destination country, and responsibility among stakeholders.
          In this CLMVT ministerial meeting, Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul will discuss bilateral foreign labour management with Laotian Minister of Labour and Social Welfare H.E. Khampheng Saysompheng and Vietnamese Minister of of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs H.E. Dao Ngoc Dung. The discussion will benefit cooperation in promoting safe migration by strengthening foreign labour management, exchanging information and promoting responsibility among all stakeholders, similar to the efforts and progress Thailand has already established with Myanmar and Cambodia.
