Labour Minister Awards Blue Factory Establishment Certificates as the Private Sector Shows Appreciation for the “Factory Sandbox” Project to Support Employment and Business Continuity

On May 20, 2022, the Labour Minister  Mr. Suchart Chomklin welcomed Mr. Noriyuki Kitasato, President of Aishin Asia Pacific Co., Ltd., and his team, on meeting the Labour Minister to receive a certificate for the blue factory establishment through the the “Factory Sandbox Project.” The certificate was awarded to Aishin Corporation, a subsidiary of automobile manufacturers. At present, there are ten affiliated companies and 14 affiliated companies in Thailand, with 13,129 employees. On this occasion, the Labour Minister also received 2,000 bags of rice weighing 5kg each from the company’s representatives. The donation is to help those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and alleviate suffering. This is beneficial to the workforce, an important part of driving Thailand’s business and economy. Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, Secretariat to the Labour Minister, Mr. Suthep Chitvong, Assistant Ministers from the Prime Minister’s Office performing duties for the Ministry of Labour, Mr. Suthi Sukosol, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), and Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, joined the meeting at the Chatumongkol meeting room, 6th floor, Ministry of Labour.
           Mr. Suchart said that the Ministry of Labour welcomed and thanked the private sector, especially Aishin Powertrain (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and its affiliates, that have given importance to the Factory Sandbox project and have implemented BOI standards to comply with the government and the Ministry of Labour’s policies on the principles of economics and public health. The efforts ensure that employees maintain employment and keep businesses operating during COVID-19. The result of the project allowed the export businesses with over 2 million workers in four sectors, namely food, medical equipment, automobiles, and electronic components, to grow. In December 2021, exports grew by 17.14 percent, the highest in eleven years, surpassing targets, totaling 271 billion USD. It helped support over 30 percent of manufacturing jobs with 11 million insured persons, enabling the industrial economy to move forward.
           Both parties discussed the exchange of information on various issues in the current labour situation. The topics included the promotion of labour skill development, labour law, education, and social security, as well as guidelines for resolving labour shortages according to the establishment’s needs. It also discussed various projects that the Ministry of Labour has planned. Representatives of Aishin praised the work of the government and the Ministry of Labour in caring for workers through the COVID-19 crisis. The company plans to invest in Thailand more in the future to drive the country’s economy and continue to contribute to creating employment in Thailand.
