Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul chaired the star awarding ceremony to 10 successors of the National Skills Development assessments for level 1-3 categories at Cho Thavee Public Company Limited, a leader in the commercial transportation industry. The skills assessments initiative was implemented by the Department of Skills Development in 2017, to support the Thailand 4.0 by using national skills standards as a mechanism in supporting all levels of workers. The star awarding program was launched to motivate workers in taking the assessments, which is also a symbol of skills guarantee to make companies confident in their workers’ skillsets. The Khon Kaen Skills Development Institute 6 partnered with Cho Thavee in the electric arch welding by hand category for levels 1-3, which is both a government and Ministry of Labour policy aiming to develop Thai craftsmanship to internationally recognized standards.

The Labour Minister then visited the center promoting practical workplace safety knowledge at Phoenix Pulp and Paper Public Company Limited in Khon Kaen, the producer of the Idea Green branded paper, which is an environmentally friendly business. The company’s business and vision align with the Labour Minister’s policy which gives focus to green jobs in Thailand. The Labour Minister also chaired the reveal of the new emergency signs and observed advanced safety training, which is part of the integrative efforts between the public and private sector in alignment with the Safety Thailand project.
