Labour Minister Commences MOL 29th Anniversary Event

            On September 23, 2022, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, presided over the ceremony to give morning offerings to 10 monks, to make merit for former executives, government officials, and officials of the Ministry of Labour who have passed away, and for auspiciousness, on the occasion of the Ministry of Labour’s 29th anniversary. The occasion took place at the Ministry of Labour’s meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour.
            The Labour Minister then presided over the ceremony to pay homage to the Ministry of Labour’s sacred objects, consisting of Phra Phut Sutthitham Bophit, Phra Phut Chinnarat, San Por Pu Chai Mongkhon, and San Thao Mahaprom Thewarit. He led the executive committee to pay respects in front of the portrait of His Majesty the King on the occasion of the Ministry of Labour’s anniversary in 2022. Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, Assistant Minister from the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Pornsak Charoenprasert, the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Suthep Chitvong, Assistant Minister from the Prime Minister’s Office, performing duties for the Ministry of Labour, Police Major General Nantachat Supamongkol, Mr. Suthi Sukosol, Sergeant Major Yossingh Liamlert, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on Politics), Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, the Ministry of Labour’s executives, civil servants and officers joined the ceremony at the Ministry of Labour.
            From there, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, presided over the ceremony to award 40 people with the “Tree Thep Phithak.” He awarded nine outstanding labour volunteers with plaques at the regional and national levels and plaques and certificates for the Ministry of Labour’s Service Center for outstanding service at the ministry level and the government inspectorate level to 6 people, and gave souvenirs to retirees in 2022. This year, the Ministry of Labour has 249 retirees. The occasion took place on the occasion of the Ministry of Labour’s 29th Anniversary, uniting the workforce to restore a prosperous Thai economy. Mr. Suchart said the Ministry of Labour was established in 1993 and has operated for 29 years. Since its establishment, the Ministry of Labour’s missions has changed, increasing its scope. Particularly since the 2021 fiscal year, the Ministry of Labour has faced crises in many dimensions. The Covid-19 pandemic affected the world, including Thailand, which was impacted economically and socially, especially in the labour sector and business establishments. This was a challenge for the Ministry of Labour to solve the issues, maintain economic stability and build confidence for both Thai and foreign investors while maintaining employment to build morale in the workforce. The Ministry of Labour implemented measures to restore the economy to be able to in many aspects, namely 1) Skill development by up-skilling, re-skilling, and enabling new skills to develop the workforce’s potential, in alignment with the situation and the labour market in the New Normal era. 2) It has promoted employment through the organization of the Job Expo Thailand 2020, with a million jobs for a million people. It has prepared job positions through the “Thai Mee Ngarn Tum” platform, deployed Thai workers to work abroad, managed foreign workers, and cared for workers’ quality of life. 3) On labour protection and solving problems, it has managed the Employee Welfare Fund and used the labour relations system to benefit workers and solve issues of unfair dismissal. 4) It has taken care of insured persons within the social security system by paying remedies, reducing contributions, providing proactive Covid-19 testing to insured persons in business establishments and worker camps, and providing Covid-19 vaccinations for insured persons in Bangkok and economic provinces. It has also established Hospitels to support insured persons who are ill with Covid-19 and implemented the Factory Sandbox project to immunize workers and build confidence to drive the economy in the manufacturing sector. It has made minimum wage adjustments to align with the current situation where the prices of consumer goods are rising, allowing workers to live properly. The new rates will be announced on October 1. The Ministry of Labour has important missions requiring cooperation from all parties, including the public and private sectors, who have dedicated themselves physically and mentally to carry out these important missions.
            Mr. Suchart continued that and congratulated executives and civil servants who have been considered to receive certificates and the “Tree Thep Phithak” insignia. It is a symbol that represents the glorification and honour of government officials who have performed good deeds and duties with perseverance, patience, and sacrifice, contributing to the Ministry of Labour’s mission and society as a whole. As for labour volunteers selected as outstanding labour volunteers for 2022, all labour volunteers are dedicated to society. With this virtue, he asked that the labour volunteers continue to be good role models for other labour volunteers. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the Ministry of Labour to all the labor volunteers and all graduates. They have worked together to drive the Ministry of Labour’s missions and operations of the Ministry of Labour’s Service Center. For those who received plaques and certificates, the award is considered a morale booster for the staff. It is also an upgrade of the Ministry of Labour’s Joint Service Center to meet the standards of the Joint Service Center and the Public Service Counter of the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC). It is also an upgrade to the quality of the center’s public service facility, which will facilitate and increase service efficiency for the people who come to contact the government. For all the civil servants and full-time employees who retire in 2022, he said that it is an indication that they have performed their duties perfectly, worthy of praise. They deserve to be remembered and be regarded as a model for the next generation of civil servants to use as a guideline for performing their duties for the maximum benefit of the nation and the people in the future.
