Labour Minister Content Children’s Day Event Outcome

           Today (14 January 2017) Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul and the ministry’s executive committee joined in giving gifts to the children the Children’s Day even at the Smart Job Center.

 

          The Labour Minister and the committee then greeted children at the various activities. These included introductions to different professions, an example of a new reported on the job, an exhibition on late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s support of employment, games, an informative session on job applications, English language lessons and quizzes on workplace safety. A demonstration of 5 professions was organized including in balloon art and magic, lacing stone necklaces, cooking takoyaki, Phad Thai and sandwiches. The Thailand Institute of Occupational Safety and Health had a booth on workplace safety and cooking demonstrations were held on sandwich making, fruit fondue and fruit punch at the training college. Over one thousand children joined the activities.
The Labour Minister said that today was the first time the Ministry of Labour organized activities to share knowledge and happiness to the children. He said that the Ministry of Labour would increase its social role, in addition to national stability and economics. He said that the Ministry hoped for the children to absorb culture and preserve it for the future, such as topics relevant to workplace safety and exposing Thai culinary globally, observing how the Ministry of Labour is currently promoting it.
Nattawut Kongsueb (First) aged 11, currently a student at Damrong Wittaya said that his family and himself, totaling 5 people, visited the Ministry of Labour for the first time today. He said he was excited about all the activities, particularly the games where he won many prizes such as a takraw ball, football and snacks. When asked what he wants to be when he grows up, he said he wants to be a soldier to help the nation. Another visitor, Warangkana Klaipong (Tu) aged 6 years old, currently a kindergarten student at Prompan School said that her grandmother had accompanied her to the Children’s Day event at the Ministry of Labour. She said that she was excited to play many games and get many prizes such as dolls, books, pencils, water bottle and snacks. When asked what she aspired to be in the future, she said she wanted to become a doctor to look after her mother and father.
