On this occasion, they discussed government issues on the care of Thai workers in Singapore and studied the job matching system for new graduates to link to information on employers’ needs. The model will be used to improve the efficiency of Thailand’s employment system. The occasion took place at the Ministry of Manpower in Singapore.
Mr. Suchart said that the Ministry of Labour thanked the Singaporean Ministry of Manpower for taking good care of all Thai workers working in Singapore. Care was given, especially during the COVID-19 situation, where they took care of vaccinations, the livelihoods, and welfare following international standards. They also discussed the management of the hiring system and job matching for new graduates so that they can find work and link information to meet employers’ needs effectively. They also spoke about recruiting Thai workers to work in Singapore. Currently, Singapore has over 10,000 Thai workers, whereby 1,827 employees were arranged through the Department of Employment.
Mr. Suchart continued that in 2022, employers and businesses in Singapore desire to hire Thai workers in 3 sectors, including in the construction industry, as shipyard technicians, and as skilled welders. Thai workers are admired for their advanced work skills, which is to the trust and satisfaction of Singapore employers. This aligns with the government’s policy that focuses on the national strategy on human resource development and capacity building to develop the workforce in all dimensions.
The Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Pairoj Chotiksetian, said that the Ministry of Labour had upgraded the online recruitment service through the “Thai Mee Ngarn Tum” platform, which links data into the same system. The highlight of the “Thai Mee Ngarn Tum” platform is the ability to collect job vacancies from a network of recruiting companies and government agencies. It uses AI systems to analyze data and match job positions, providing a Single Window service for affiliated agencies. The platform provides employment services through the “Thai Mee Ngarn Tum” application, which consolidates e-government services in one place. It can track employment, and service data is systematically stored. Changes can be tracked in real-time. It also compiles skill development courses from various agencies to help job seekers qualify for the position and increase their income levels.
