Labour Minister Discusses Workforce Development to Support Employers’ Needs with Singaporean Education Minister

           The Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics) Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, the Department of Employment’s Director-General Mr. Pairoj Chotiksetian, the Department of Skills Development’s Director-General  Mr. Prateep Songlamyong, and the Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut paid a courtesy call to Mr. Chan Chun Sing, Singapore’s Minister of Education. On this occasion, there were discussions on government issues to exchange knowledge and discuss ways to link the development of necessary skills for Thai workers. They also discussed the systematic management of labour information covering all dimensions. The occasion took place at the Ministry of Education in Singapore.

           Mr. Suchart said that Singapore is a country that places importance on human resource development for all ages, especially the working-age, as the workforce is an important part of the country’s development. Singapore also has the Skill Future system, whereby the model can increase the potential of advanced skilled labour among Thai workers in alignment with the government policy. Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan focus on promoting workers’ jobs. It has developed the workforce to have high potential in all dimensions for national development and to increase competitiveness.

           “The Ministry of Labour thanks the Education Minister of Singapore for exchanging information on Singapore’s skill development system, which is necessary for Thai workers to align with the needs of Singaporean employers. It is a good sign for cooperation to deliver sufficiently skilled workers who have the performance that meets the market demand and to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
