On November 3, 2024, at 13.00 hours, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, chaired the inspection of the implementation of the Ministry of Labour’s important policy on “creating a culture of occupational safety for informal workers.” The Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour and Acting Director-General of the Department of Skill Development, Mr. Decha Phruekpattanarak, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour and Acting Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, Lieutenant Saroj Komkhai, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and Acting Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, Mrs. Marasri Jairangsi, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, along with executives of the Ministry of Labour joined the occasion. The Governor of Satun Province, Mr. Sakra Kapilkanchan, heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Satun Province, the President of the Satun Informal Workers Club, President of the Dala Pateh Community Enterprise Group, labour graduates, the informal labour network group, the social security network, the homeworkers group, and the freelancer group, joined in giving a welcome at the Dala Pate Community Enterprise Group, Khuan Sto Subdistrict, Khuan Don District, Satun Province.
Mr. Phiphat said that he and the executives of the Ministry of Labour were delighted and honoured to visit and meet with members of the Dala Pathe Community Enterprise Group, including labour graduates, the informal labor network, the social security network, the homeworkers group, and the freelance group, who warmly welcomed them upon their inspection to assess the progress of the project to create a culture of occupational safety for informal workers today. The policy is one of the Ministry of Labour’s key policies to support the creation of knowledge and skills in various aspects of work, such as using standard equipment and tools, improving lighting and the work environment, using hazardous chemicals, and practicing elemental fire extinguishing drills for occupational safety.
Mr. Phiphat continued that the Dala Pate Community Enterprise Group in Satun Province is an informal workers group under the “One Sub-district, One Independent Occupation Group” project. The Ministry of Labour, through the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare and local networks, shares knowledge about occupational safety, health, and work environment so that independent occupation groups can apply the knowledge effectively to reduce accidents, loss of life, and property, promoting informal workers in Satun Province to have a better quality of life and sustainable income. The Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat, and his team visited the booths of the homeworkers group, the independent occupation group, and the social security network group and presented fire extinguishers to the Dala Pate Community Enterprise Group.
“I thank the Governor of Satun Province, the heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour of Satun Province, the government and private sectors who have collaborated to drive this project to the greatest benefit to create strength for the independent occupation group to be able to work to their full potential, helping to drive the economy in the community and the province,” said Mr. Phiphat.
