On November 15, 2024, at 13.00 hours, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, launched the public relations project to promote confidence in Social Security Section 40 at the Southern College of Technology Auditorium, Thung Song District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Deputy Governors of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Mr. Somchai Leelanoi and Mr. Suwat Chansuk, the Secretariat to the Labour Minister, Mr. Aree Krainara, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, Mr. Phumiphat Mueanchan, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and Acting Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, Mrs. Marasri Jairangsi, and the heads of agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Surat Thani, Krabi, Trang, and Phatthalung Provinces attended the event.
The Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, said that Nakhon Si Thammarat Province is the first group. It is the province with the largest population in the Southern region. There are over 500,000 people who work independently, such as rubber plantations, oil palm plantations, coconut plantations, rice farming, plantations, fisheries, coastal aquaculture, and animal husbandry. He said that he believes that this project will create awareness of the importance of social security benefits under Section 40 that are appropriate for the occupation, such as when insured persons are unable to work due to accidents or illness, workers will receive up to 90 days of income replacement. In the case of disabilities, insured persons will receive 500 to 1,000 Baht monthly income replacement for life. In the case of death, insured persons will receive up to 50,000 Baht for funeral expenses, and in the case of old age, compensation will be in a lump sum. Child support includes a monthly payment from the time an insured person’s child is born until they are 6 years old. Today, the Social Security Office has a fund for all insured persons who are prospective homeowners. They are eligible for a home loan or land purchase of up to 2 million Baht per person to create a stable quality of life and become an essential force in the country’s economic system.
The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and Acting Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, Mrs. Marasri Jairangsi, provided additional information that the activities in this project include providing services for recruiting insured persons under Section 40, organizing a forum for discussing and exchanging experiences in social security under Section 40, setting up a product sales booth by networks, organizing an exhibition of agencies under the Ministry of Labour, as well as other activities by the Ministry of Labour’s network partners. The Social Security Office is ready to drive the policy to promote the creation of social security for independent workers of theLabour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, which states, “quality skills, employment, and outstanding social security, focusing on building the foundation of the economy,” along with the policy of the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, which emphasizes the “building confidence for all sectors of the workforce, formal or informal workers, to receive fair, comprehensive and universal benefits.” Finally, Mrs. Marasri said that she “hopes that today’s project will be an important mechanism for public relations and creating participation with people at all levels so that they have knowledge, understanding, and confidence in the principles of social security, which is ready to provide comprehensive coverage to insured persons nationwide.”
