2017 has been set as the year for the Ministry of Labour to evolve its role and expand missions for improved human resource development in support of the Thailand 4.0 policy. This begins from increasing the role of the Department of Skills Development as an institute for workforce development in automation technology and robotics in Rayong, which will support labour demands in both the industrial and logistics sector. The Ministry of Labour aims to enhance technological know-how amongst new graduates and new workforce entrants as the three Eastern provinces (Rayong, Chon Buri and Chachoengsao) are still in demand for 9,400 workers. This comprises positions in manufacturing, automotive maintenance and household and construction tools, where the majority demand is for high school and vocational college graduates. Nevertheless, the Ministry of Labour remains confident in readiness to develop the workforce to support the ECC and the 20-year national plan on human resource development. In addition to this the Labour Minister has emphasized the private sector to devise measures on migrant worker management to ensure legality of workers. Simultaneously, the ministry has revised the Foreign Worker Management Act B.E….. which is under consideration by the Office of the Council of State.
