Labour Minister Gives 2022 New Year Blessings to Government Officials and Aims to Develop a Quality Workforce to Support a New Economy

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin chaired a speech giving blessings to the Ministry of Labour’s government officials and staff on the occasion of 2022 New Year’s. The occasion took place via video conference on Zoom, at the meeting room on the 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. The speech was delivered to overseas labour offices and agencies under the Ministry of Labour in the provincial and central regions nationwide. Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Suthep Chitvong, Assistant Minister from the Prime Minister’s Office performing duties for the Ministry of Labour Police Major General Nantachat Supamongkol and Mr. Suthi Sukosol, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion at the meeting room on the 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. Mr. Suchart thanked all senior executives, civil servants, and officials of the Ministry of Labour for 2021 that is about to pass. It has been a year since the world and Thailand faced COVID-19. He said that he received great cooperation from everyone working to help workers and organizations affected by COVID-19 by implementing health care system measures and maintaining the economic system. As a result, many countries have confidence in the stability of the Thai government in maintaining employment so that the trade and investment sectors can move forward, especially the country’s export businesses which have continued to grow.
          Mr. Suchart continued that the government under the leadership of the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, has established a strategic framework for human resource development and promotion by focusing on all groups of people at all ages to have jobs. As for the Ministry of Labour’s work direction, the Labour Minister has formulated policies for public administration under the concept of “continuing, maintaining, extending the Ministry of Labour, restoring and transforming the Thai labour market.” This policy, in general, will focus on the development of labour skills towards a quality workforce in preparation for the new economy.
          “I am committed to upgrading the Ministry of Labour to a Ministry of Economy by stimulating demand in employment in the new economy both at home and abroad. I aim to systematically manage foreign workers and expedite, improve and amend various laws to align with changing situations. Success will occur with the cooperation of all sectors, including employers, employees, labour networks, and the general public. Please be assured that the Ministry of Labour will work with all relevant sectors to drive labour missions for the benefit of the people and the nation forever,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
