On April 19, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin welcomed the Ambassador of Thailand to Abu Dhabi, Mr. Warawut Phupinya, Ambassador Counselor (on Labour) at the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Ms. Plida Ruamkham, President of the Thai Overseas Manpower Association, Ms. Aranya Sakulkosol, and committee, on a meeting to discuss cooperation issues to expand the Thai labour market in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Assistant Minister from the Prime Minister’s Office performing duties for the Ministry of Labour, Mr. Suthi Sukosol, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, Mrs. Theanrat Navamawat, Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, the Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Pairoj Chotiksetian and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion at the Chatumongkol Room, 6th floor, Ministry of Labour.
Mr. Suchart said that he was assigned by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan to represent the Thai government to join bilateral discussions with the Minister of Human Resources and Employment Promotion of the United Arab Emirates on March 30, 2022. The meeting discussed labour issues and exchanged information on progress in cooperation. The two countries have negotiated to exchange information on Thailand’s job demand and labor force supply to facilitate deployment quickly.
Mr. Suchart further said that the Ministry of Labour thanked the Thai Ambassador to the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi for taking good care of Thai workers in the United Arab Emirates. The opportunity for Thai workers to work will help them develop their skills, generate income, and help raise their family status. Thai workers are preferred by UAE employers, especially in business sectors such as massage/spa, Thai cooks, hotel staff, and welders. These are some of the preferred fields by employers as the craftsmanship of Thai workers are accepted. Today’s discussions will greatly benefit Thai workers in expediting the dispatch of the first group of Thai workers and the subsequent batches to the United Arab Emirates. The deployment will be faster to comply with the government’s policy to promote Thai workers to travel to work abroad, provide Thai people with jobs and occupations, and bring income into the country to increase competitiveness.
