On March 4, 2025, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, welcomed Mr. Yoav Ben Tzur, Minister of Labour of the State of Israel, Ms. Orna Sagiv, Ambassador of Israel to Thailand, and a delegation, on the occasion of a visit to Thailand to discuss expanding the quota of Thai workers to Israel, including the agricultural, construction, hotel, and nursing sectors. Mr. Aree Krainara, the Secretariat to the Labour Minister, Mr. Phuchong Worasri, assigned to the Office of the Prime Minister and currently serving at the Ministry of Labour, Air Chief Marshal Athikun Kongmee, Advisor to the Labour Minister, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Sakdinart Sonthisakyotin, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, and executives from the Ministry of Labour joined the occasion at the Chatumongkol Room, 6th floor, Ministry of Labour.
Mr. Phiphat thanked the Israeli government for helping the five Thai hostages return home safely. He asked the Israeli government to help expedite the release of the remaining Thai workers and track down the bodies of the deceased Thai workers to return to their home country.
Mr. Phiphat continued that Thailand and Israel agreed to increase the labour quota to 13,000 people in the agricultural sector (G2G government), and 8,500 people in the construction sector (B2B private sector). They are also prepared to accept workers in the service sector, such as in hotels, restaurants, and nursing work, by expediting the process of sending Thai workers to work in Israel. The Thai Ministry of Labour is ready to select workers to meet Israel’s needs and has requested that PIBA expedite the issuance of visas for Thai workers waiting to travel to work, especially in service professions in which Thailand has expertise.
“Thai workers have potential and are recognized by Israeli employers. We are ready to support and expand opportunities for Thai workers to access high-paying jobs with good welfare. Follow the application details at the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour,” concluded Mr. Phiphat.
Mr. Yoav Ben Tzur, Minister of Labour of the State of Israel, said that Israel is confident in Thai workers and is ready to recruit more. Israeli employers are in need of more Thai workers who are hardworking, patient, and skilled. In addition, the Israeli government would like to ensure that Thai workers will be safe and will receive full benefits according to the law. Importantly, it is ready to consider signing the MOU on labour as soon as possible.
