On July 1, 2021, at 14.00 hours, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha presided over the opening ceremony of the Hug Thais Hug Phuket project at Central Phuket. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayawong and Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol also joined the opening of this event. The Hug Thais Hug Phuket project was organized to promote Phuket tourism by opening areas for tour operators in Phuket for free. The initiative received cooperation from Phuket Province, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, government agencies, and the private sector, together with more than 100 famous airlines and hotels in Phuket, such as CentaraHotel and Renaissance Hotel. The event offers special promotions of up to 70 percent off for customers who come to buy accommodation packages at the event, which will run until July 4, 2021, under the most strict control measures, that is “Central, Clean and Confident.”
