Labour Minister Launches the Ministry of Labour’s 2025 Meet the People Project in Songkhla Province Offering Recruitment Services, Freelance Training, and Free Health Checkups: Ready to Roll Out Nationwide

On January 19, 2025, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, chaired the opening ceremony of the Ministry of Labour’s 2025 Meet the People Project in Songkhla Province. Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, Chairman of the Advisory Board to the Minister of Labour, Mr. Phuchong Worasri, assigned to the Office of the Prime Minister and currently serving at the Ministry of Labour, Mr. Phumipat Mueanchan, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Ms. Kornjirat Phongchanthorn, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives joined the occasion. Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, gave a report. Mr. Chotinrin Ketsom, Governor of Songkhla Province, gave a welcome speech. Heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour, labour volunteers, labour graduates, insured person networks, and business establishments joined in welcoming the participants at the Chuphan Meeting Room, 2nd floor, Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology, the Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Songkhla Campus, Mueang Songkhla District, Songkhla Province.

Mr. Phiphat said that the Ministry of Labour’s Meet the People Project in 2025 will bring the Ministry of Labour’s agencies’ missions and services to the people in Songkhla Province. Songkhla Province is equipped with transportation channels, including land, sea, and air, and has many businesses and high employment. Songkhla Province has a lake basin that connects 3 provinces: Songkhla, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Phatthalung. Therefore, the Ministry of Labour has made efforts to promote career development for the people in the Songkhla Lake Basin, most of whom work in agriculture and the tourism industry, to create an economic triangle and promote employment for all ages. There are over 1,000 positions, including part-time jobs for students and jobs for retirees, the elderly, vulnerable groups, and people with disabilities, to boost employment opportunities, as well as provide knowledge to freelance and home workers. It aims to promote labour protection and welfare, provide a loan fund for careers and social security benefits, and free health checks and vaccinations for the people of Songkhla Province and the southern region. He thanked the labour network, the government sector, the private sector, businesses, and the Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Songkhla Campus for supporting personnel and venues and jointly organizing the project today.

Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, said that the purpose of organizing the Ministry of Labour’s Meets the People event in Songkhla Province, is to integrate collaboration between the Ministry of Labour’s agencies in Songkhla and nearby provinces, including government and private sector networks, to integrate proactive labour missions to provide services to the people of Songkhla and nearby provinces. The activities in the event included 1) A meeting with the workforce, offering over 1,000 vacancies, 2) Social security activities under all sections and health checkups to prevent diseases by providing flu vaccinations, blood sugar level checks, and worker rehabilitation, 3) Independent worker activities with vocational training to boost income through the One Tambon One Occupation Group, 4) Activities to promote companies and good workforce practices according to the Sufficiency Economy philosophy, and 5) Academic services on safety.

“The Ministry of Labour will continue to organize the Ministry of Labour’s Meet the People events throughout the year in every region of Thailand,” concluded Mr. Boonsong.
